I have to tell you that although I hate the thought of Christmas coming to an end, I simply love the start of a New Year. It really is a time to reflect and make new changes and promises to yourself. I had always been one of those people who abandoned her resolutions by the time Valentine's Day rolled in, until a few years ago when my only New Year's res. was to give veganism a try. I didn't even vow to go vegan, I just promised myself that I was really going to try it this time. That wasn't what was different however. What was different was that I felt the need to do it so deeply, it was something that was so important to me, that I really challenged myself to do it. You already know by now, that that New Year's Resolution was all it took and I have since been the happiest vegan, but so many times we vow to make changes in our lives and then when faced with the first pebble on the road, we slowly go down the quitting spiral. I want things to change this year. I want us to deeply think of why we want and wish to be healthy, and give it the importance it deserves. That also means treating ourselves with kindness when we fall off the horse. This is the secret to getting back on, as opposed to quitting.

This is a long way of telling you that I have a little challenge for us in 2016. It has a lot to do with the beautiful photo I chose for the top of this post.

A little challenge

I want you to put yourself first this year. I want us all to make ourselves, our well being, our happiness and especially our health a priority in 2016.

As I write this I'm tearing up slightly because The Beatles' White Album is playing, the song Ob-la-di Ob-la-da is coming to an end. A song I used to dance to in my living room with two of the most special people in my life who sadly left us too soon. My uncle (and best friend/father figure) Aly would play the guitar and sing, my mom would play her tambourine and I would sing and dance and GO CRAZY! They were precious moments in between a hard life due to my mother being chronically ill since childhood. I'll be telling you more about this in our About page soon, but suffice it to say, I have seen, breathed and felt what "sick" is like, and I vowed many years ago that I would never take my life or health for granted.

What does that have to do with Brownble and food? Food is the number one thing we can absolutely take control of to CHANGE our lives, our bodies and even our emotional well-being. When we fuel our bodies with healthy, wholesome foods that nourish us, it's like our bodies respond instantly no matter how many years of "abuse" we've put them through.

This is why in 2016, I want us, no matter what our diets are right now, to eat as many whole, plant-based foods as possible together.

This is why we're making January our 100% tribute to health month!

We'll be giving you delicious healthy recipes and videos to support us all on a journey to glowing health, and we're going to focus on that balancing act of eating our favorite naughty treats and making the best choices possible the rest of the time. January is a great moment to reboot and incorporate new habits, but we're going further than that, and making Brownble a true example of that never ending balancing act, which happens every day, and every month, and every year. We'll be with you every step of the way!

Our online membership program will be flooded with videos, recipes and support for a healthy and balanced 2016, and no matter what your diet is right now, we want to go on this journey with you, and help you to incorporate as many whole plant based foods as you'll let us!  Not only will a whole foods plant-based diet be the most amazing for your health, but you'll be saving animals, healing the planet, and even helping fellow humans by not contributing to industries that are extremely wasteful and violent... and this will just make your heart sing!

But our challenge and wish for you doesn't end there...

We want you to be kinder and more loving to yourself this year. Let this year be the one in which you truly get to know yourself and what matters deeply to you. Do something you absolutely love to do every single day. Do something that is just for YOU every single day, and connect with people who deeply understand and respect you. Eat well, sleep well, dance, move, sing. Take advantage of the fact that with every passing year we're not only getting older as society keeps trying to remind us, we're absolutely getting wiser. And that's just plain fun!

So are you ready for 2016? We can't wait to go on this journey to health with you this January.

Before you go... we have a special little message for you

From all of us here at Brownble we wish you all the most healthy, joyful, prosperous and blissful New Year. We can't wait to go on more adventures together! We are so grateful for all the support we've received. We're so grateful for our dear Brownble members, our readers, followers and supporters. You've made 2015 one of THE most exciting years of our lives!

HAPPY 2016!
