Boy do I have a lot of things to tell you today. I've had THE most intense 2 weeks since starting Brownble. Why? It all started innocently enough with filming some great little surprises we have in store for you, and it then ended up in a complete tech crisis with the biggest silver lining EVER. It got me thinking about the way we approach problems. They arrive and we try so hard to put everything back the way it was. We almost go crazy with all that resistance to change, and we knock our heads against the wall wondering how we can quickly fix it, completely skipping over the beauty of challenges and pebbles in the road. They are there for a reason, and they are powerful catalysts for change. I'm going to quote one of my idols and my business mentor Marie Forleo and her motto: "Everything is figure-outable". This has become our mantra lately, since starting this blog and our online program has made us into techs, programmers, video editing and sound geeks, entrepreneurs, tax and business lunatics, when in reality we're a vegan cook and a doctor with a very big dream to help people. Boy have we had to channel this feeling that, yes, sometimes we just need to head down into what we like to call "The Brownble Bunker" (more a state of mind than an actual bunker), and figure things out.Read More
A visit from The Nomadic Vegan, lunch at Rayen Vegano and a beautiful spring wedding
Happy Monday everyone! This week was so exciting I can't even tell you. It was also crazy busy which is basically the translation of exciting around here. We had our hands full with recipe testing, editing, adding all the new features to our online program, plus we went to a very special wedding surrounded by friends and the most beautiful spring weather. They had a special vegan menu all set up for us and it was delicious! We were all dolled up as you can see. The bride who worked with Carlos at the hospital was so beautiful and happy, I have to tell you I'm a sucker for a good wedding, especially when it's of friends we care about so much.
That night we came home early and started setting everything up for a very fun Sunday. Wendy Werneth from the amazing vegan travel blog The Nomadic Vegan was going to be on set with us filming a few videos that are coming your way soon! It was the first time we've ever had a guest on set with us and I can't even tell you how much fun that was. You'll get to hear it in one of the videos, since we shot a scene in which everyone suddenly burst out laughing! Including Carlos behind the camera and Wendy's husband Nick who was also with us on set.
Making morning pizza toast and diner classics from sandwiches to salads and wraps
If you read last week's from our kitchen table post you know that our little furry baby Nala was a bit under the weather. I can't thank you enough for all your kind words and smooches sent to her! Trust me, she got them all because we wouldn't stop hugging and kissing her. Let me just say, the extra dose of love worked! She is almost completely recovered and back to her usual perky and naughty self. Thank you so much for being there cheering her on. As you can see below, she's already trying to manipulate us into giving her treats, so things are finally back to normal around here (that's her treat stare... very serious and professional).
This week we still had to do a lot of babysitting since she still needed a bit of help eating and moving around, so we were basically in our little bunker, getting all sorts of amazing content ready for you, and of course there was a lot of cooking and eating! Here are some of our favorites from this past week. I hope these inspire some of your meals. I'm especially excited for this week's sweet treat, which we just filmed and is so healthy it's CRAZY. Coming soon!Read More
Full time doggie nurse, recipe testing burgers, healthy chocolate cake and more!
This week was rough to say the least. Our dog Nala woke up in the middle of the night on Thursday completely disoriented, dizzy, throwing up, unable to walk, with her head tilted to one side, and as you can imagine, completely nervous because of what was happening to her. We rushed her to the vet and although we'll know more in the next few days as she continues to recover, we suspect she got something called vestibular disorder which apparently is typical in senior dogs. Imagine having problems in your inner ear that completely mess up your balance and gives you the worst case of vertigo. Poor thing. She's been so sick these past few days and my heart and stomach have been in knots! We stayed home with her every single day, kept her company, gave her all her medications and even had to spoon (and syringe) feed her since she was refusing to eat. Thank goodness everything turned around on Sunday and she woke up so much better! I'´ll keep you posted on how she's doing as she continues to recover. This is why we've been a bit absent from social media these past few days and why some of our meals and pics for this week's recap today are a little simpler than usual. My whole mind, heart and soul were completely on getting Nala better. Yet another example for me of how important being healthy is. When you're sick nothing else matters. Here's the little patient with her dad. This was the day before she really started feeling better. Please keep her in your thoughts so she can make a quick recovery.
Are your ready for our favorites from the past week? I hope these help inspire some of your meals!Read More

A trip to snowy mountains and the best dinner ever, by one of our "My Brownble" members!
Some weeks are simply extra special, and this was definitely one of those. We had a long weekend of filming for Brownble ahead, so we deicided to take a little day trip up to the sierra mountains and have a totally fun snow day and some much needed R&R since we've been working non-stop around here. It was also extra special because for the first time since adopting Vega, we would be taking our her to meet snow possibly for the first time in her life. Nala, our eldest pooch, is a snow expert and it's her absolute favorite thing in the world, so we had a pretty good idea that Vega would have a blast too. She went CRAZY! We shot so many videos of her, and you'll get to see some footage soon since I'm sure these will make it into our next Brownble intro. There's something about watching animals jumping and leaping and running with joy that just fills your heart. It was just what I needed. It was a hard day to top, but we finished it with the perfect cherry on top of the cake since one of our My Brownble members and friend, invited us over for dinner, in which we were served the most amazing vegan food. All of that plus more of our vegan food highlights of the past week are what you'll get to see in today's post! Let's get to it, I've got so many amazing photos to show you!Read More
The Nomadic Vegan, homemade seitan sausages with carbonara and vegan brezel
It's that time of the week again in which I get to share our favorite vegan eats and treats from the past week, straight from our kitchen table. This week was especially delicious and fun since I got to meet my favorite vegan travel blogger Wendy Werneth from The Nomadic Vegan. We've become friends over the past few years in the blogging world, but we had never actually met! It was so much fun and exciting to get to meet her in person this weekend, as she stopped by for a flash visit from Geneva. Wendy is a truly amazing person and as sweet as she sounds in her blog. She's travelled to over 97 countries, speaks 6 languages and is married to a fellow teacher who also happens to be one of our most recent My Brownble members. He's cooking up a storm with all of our recipes, and Wendy is such a lucky lady having Nick cook for her. You'll see all the photos below and of course more amazing grub from our very own kitchen to yours. Let's do this thing!Read More
Chickpea flour creations, pasta and perfect burgers
I think this has been the most exciting week since we launched Brownble. Just in case you missed it, I wrote a special Sunday edition post yesterday telling you all about why Brownble looks so different today! Check out that post here so you can read all about the new features, the rockin' sale we're having in our online program, and my favorite, my personal story is now in our About section for you to read. It was so hard to write it, it's something I have never shared in any of my past blogs or posts, and it was even harder to go through my old photos to find pics for the story (yes, baby pictures are included). I'm so glad I did it though, I think every time I revisit the past I understand it better, I can feel the sadness but also the growth and the happy moments of the past also come rushing in. I hope you find inspiration in it and you get to see why I created this space for you and me.Read More
