What Polar Bears and Jigsaw Puzzles can Teach us about Mindful Eating

This morning as I was doing my daily walking meditation with the dogs (with an amazing podcast called the Daily Meditation Podcast), the little intro the episode started with was talking about two great behavioral studies that can teach you a lot of about having your mind in constant overdrive and multitasking like we were back in the 90's.

This is a topic that really gets my attention because you wouldn't believe the hundreds of things I have on my plate every single day. I'm constantly on turbo, then I come crashing down, so I'm always on the hunt for great tools to help me keep things in balance. I know you're not an exception to this either. You're so busy and have so much on your plate that it's hard to be able to enjoy anything sometimes.

This week was a fun filled one for sure. We were busy as little bees getting our free 3 step guide to put an end to dieting and develop healthy habits up and running on the site, which you probably saw in our sidebar today. If you haven't, I know you'll go nutty over it and you can check it out below. It's a free three part videos series in which I share a very personal side of my story with eating and dieting with you, and I give you my 3 step guide for creating healthy eating habits for life, plus some very actionable tips and secrets for staying on the healthy and happy train. I'll be writing a separate post on it soon but you can head right on over by clicking below and start watching right now. I'm very nervous about this one since for the first time ever I'm sharing this part of my story on video, but I know it might be so helpful to so many of you, so I just had to rip the fear off like a really sticky band aid and share.

Birthday fondue and new surprises

If you read the blog last week you probably heard that we released a new section of our online program in celebration of my birthday! Yup! I got another year older and wiser last week, and with that came amazing food! I didn't have a big celebration this year because I've had so much on my plate lately. I wanted to simply relax at home with my hubby, the dogs and a good movie (and good food!). You'll get to see all those goodies below. The week was full of healthy treats too, and the weekend was extra special. Carlos and I have a little something up our sleeves that we'll be releasing soon, and let me just say that it took plenty of blood sweat and even a few tears on my part, since I'm going to be sharing something really personal with all of you soon. I'm so excited to show this to you, and Carlos is right here next to me editing non-stop as I write this. Brownble is growing and growing and I couldn't wish for a better way to start this new year of my life. It's all thanks to you. Ok, let's get to the grub!

Full time doggie nurse, recipe testing burgers, healthy chocolate cake and more!

This week was rough to say the least. Our dog Nala woke up in the middle of the night on Thursday completely disoriented, dizzy, throwing up, unable to walk, with her head tilted to one side, and as you can imagine, completely nervous because of what was happening to her. We rushed her to the vet and although we'll know more in the next few days as she continues to recover, we suspect she got something called vestibular disorder which apparently is typical in senior dogs. Imagine having problems in your inner ear that completely mess up your balance and gives you the worst case of vertigo. Poor thing. She's been so sick these past few days and my heart and stomach have been in knots! We stayed home with her every single day, kept her company, gave her all her medications and even had to spoon (and syringe) feed her since she was refusing to eat. Thank goodness everything turned around on Sunday and she woke up so much better! I'´ll keep you posted on how she's doing as she continues to recover. This is why we've been a bit absent from social media these past few days and why some of our meals and pics for this week's recap today are a little simpler than usual. My whole mind, heart and soul were completely on getting Nala better. Yet another example for me of how important being healthy is. When you're sick nothing else matters. Here's the little patient with her dad. This was the day before she really started feeling better. Please keep her in your thoughts so she can make a quick recovery.

Are your ready for our favorites from the past week? I hope these help inspire some of your meals!

Thai heaven, burgers and a simple veggie bowl you can make at home

Happy Monday everyone! As usual we're here for our regular Monday date in which we show you all our favorite vegan eats from the past week so you can get inspired for your meals! It was a really fun week full of posts and lots of hard work at Brownble. It was also recipe testing week and we're getting some comfort food goodies ready for you. I have to tell you that I find the process of recipe testing so much fun. On the surface it looks like you're just making things over and over again, but it's almost like a little science experiment. How can I make this with fewer ingredients? Healthier? Simpler to make? How can I add something that will make you and your loved ones go nutty when they try them. It's like being a little detective. I put on some tunes or a movie, the dogs are always by my side and it's a whole day in the kitchen. I can't wait to show you what's coming, but in the meantime, here are some of our favorite meal ideas from this past week.

A trip to snowy mountains and the best dinner ever, by one of our "My Brownble" members!

Some weeks are simply extra special, and this was definitely one of those. We had a long weekend of filming for Brownble ahead, so we deicided to take a little day trip up to the sierra mountains and have a totally fun snow day and some much needed R&R since we've been working non-stop around here. It was also extra special because for the first time since adopting Vega, we would be taking our her to meet snow possibly for the first time in her life. Nala, our eldest pooch, is a snow expert and it's her absolute favorite thing in the world, so we had a pretty good idea that Vega would have a blast too. She went CRAZY! We shot so many videos of her, and you'll get to see some footage soon since I'm sure these will make it into our next Brownble intro. There's something about watching animals jumping and leaping and running with joy that just fills your heart. It was just what I needed. It was a hard day to top, but we finished it with the perfect cherry on top of the cake since one of our My Brownble members and friend, invited us over for dinner, in which we were served the most amazing vegan food. All of that plus more of our vegan food highlights of the past week are what you'll get to see in today's post! Let's get to it, I've got so many amazing photos to show you!

Dinner at Rayen Vegano, quick veggie sautés and homemade nut butters

We're entering Valentine's Day week and all I can think about is the video we'll be posting, perfect for this special occasion. According to Carlos it is the best recipe in our blog or membership program to date. Yup! He actually said that! I still think there are many just as good but I am EXTREMELY excited to share this one with you. I'm mentioning it now only because with recipe testing and filming it this week it should be in here with all the other yummies we had, but I don't want to ruin the surprise! You'll just have to wait until Wednesday when we post it on our youtube channel (and members, you'll have another amazing one coming tomorrow as well!). We did however eat many other delicious vegan meals this week, and here are the highlights, in the hopes that they inspire your meals too!

FROM OUR KITCHEN TABLE + CARLOS'S BIRTHDAY BASH!

Welcome back to our little Monday series From our Kitchen Table! This is one of our weekly dates here in the blog in which I get to show you the highlights of the vegan goodies we've eaten in the past week, in the hopes that they inspire some of your meals at home, give you ideas and insights into how to build a balanced vegan plate, what our portions look like and all the wonderful things you can make with just plants! This week we have another special edition since it was Carlos's birthday last week, and we celebrated big time with a little party at our house. I think I haven't spent this much time in the kitchen in a long time and I'm always in there! It was so nice to spend this time with friends, and in spite of the fact that I went nutty with the amount of food I was serving, there was practically nothing left by the end of the night! I love it when that happens. Most of the recipes I made for the party are part of our online membership program, which you can join for less than 40 cents per day and have access to over 11o videos with more and more coming every single week! Click here to learn more about the features of our program and start your free trial today.

Let's get to the grub! We're tackling our favorites from the past week and then I'm giving you a total inside look into our little birthday shindig!
