Vegan Barbecue Series: Vegetables, Sides and Salads

If you read or listened to last week's post or episode you know we're right in the middle of our delicious vegan barbecue series, in which I get to teach you some of my favorite plant-based goodies to pop on that grill this summer. Last week we covered vegan meats and marinades, and today it's time for some of my grilling favorites. Those barbecue sides, those perfectly charred veggies and the salads that will round out grilling season. Sides are a thing of beauty and we all know it. Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners are the perfect proof of that. Sure, we might have loved these holiday gatherings because of the big roast (which of course you can make vegan) at the center of the table, but usually when I ask people what their favorite part of their family's Thanksgiving was, they all mention their grandma's mashed potatoes or their dad's famous sweet potato casserole. Deep down, we're all side dish junkies. Grilling season is the perfect excuse to indulge in such a vice.

Vegan Barbecue Series: Plant-Based Meatiness and Marinades

Last week, we helped you celebrate 4th of July weekend with some delicious vegan recipes from across the blogosphere, which you can check out here. We had delicious homemade vegan sausages, red, white and blue fruit tarts and bars, crispy no fry onion rings, yummy burgers, the works! It inspired me to create the series you're going to start enjoying today, all with a friend in mind: the barbecue.

I can't tell you how much we love barbecue season. Partly because as Venezuelans we both grew up with family barbecues every weekend. Carlos would go to his grandparent's house, which was also the house he grew up in, and his whole family would get together on Saturdays for some grilling. We don't have seasons back home, meaning this was a tradition held year round. Talk about a lot of barbecues.

What I Eat in a Day (Vegan)

I've gotten so many requests for this video I can´t even tell you. I think people are always curious when it comes to how to fill your plate when you eat a vegan diet and rightfully so. If you ate a meat centered diet before going vegan or if you still haven't made this change but are curious about making some more plant based dishes, it can seem like a head scratching moment when you open the fridge, look at your plate and have no idea what to make.

Although I'm constantly sharing some of our meals in the blog and podcast, I thought it was time to show you "a day in my eating life", only this time do it on video! What you'll get to see are the goodies we ate this past Saturday in which we also took a walk with the doggies, went to the farmer's market, did some grilling and of course ate delicious food and brought you along for the ride.
