Confession time: I grew up thinking that mayonnaise was the weirdest thing on this planet. I didn't like the taste, I hated it in my burgers and hotdogs, the only time I would even consider trying it was when it was part of a potato salad, a devilled egg or mixed in with ketchup to make a Venezuelan classic "salsa rosada" which was a dream when eaten with French fries. Mayonnaise on its own though... not so much. Then I moved to Spain, and everything changed.Read More
Thai heaven, burgers and a simple veggie bowl you can make at home
Happy Monday everyone! As usual we're here for our regular Monday date in which we show you all our favorite vegan eats from the past week so you can get inspired for your meals! It was a really fun week full of posts and lots of hard work at Brownble. It was also recipe testing week and we're getting some comfort food goodies ready for you. I have to tell you that I find the process of recipe testing so much fun. On the surface it looks like you're just making things over and over again, but it's almost like a little science experiment. How can I make this with fewer ingredients? Healthier? Simpler to make? How can I add something that will make you and your loved ones go nutty when they try them. It's like being a little detective. I put on some tunes or a movie, the dogs are always by my side and it's a whole day in the kitchen. I can't wait to show you what's coming, but in the meantime, here are some of our favorite meal ideas from this past week.Read More
Happy 2016 everybody! It's so nice to be back in the blog this week now that the new year has rolled in. I hope you all got a chance to see the special New Year's Eve post I wrote for you last week. We've made the commitment to have the healthiest start to the year and basing our meals as much as possible on whole plant-based foods that our bodies will thank us for. All the videos and recipes coming your way will be super simple to make, delicious, and extremely healthy for you.
I have to tell you that I love the new year. It's the perfect moment for a fresh start, especially when it comes to changing our daily habits. There's so much momentum associated with this time of year that I like to take advantage of that and use it to make changes in my life. One of those changes this year was using part of my Christmas break to completely revamp my kitchen. We cleaned, tossed, fixed, re-organized and put a ton of methods in place so that it's always a nice welcoming space that is ready for you to cook in at the drop of the hat. I can't tell you what a difference this has made in the way we eat! We'll be talking about getting organized really soon so stay tuned. I hope you're all having a very inspiring start to the year, and as we always do on Mondays, we're kicking off the year with our recent vegan meals, straight from our kitchen table, in the hopes that some of these dishes will inspire you in your kitchen. Let's get to the grub!Read More
Homemade pizza, tofu for fish lovers and vegan burgers! + Brownble gets a Holiday makeover!
Our favorite time of year is here! Let me start by saying that I'm obsessed with Christmas. In fact, as I write this I'm listening to a rock and roll Christmas playlist. Pearl Jam's "Let me sleep (it's Christmas time)" is on... priceless. It's the season of traditions for me, and you know how I feel about traditions. Soon I'll be writing a bit about this, but today we're here because of yummy vegan grub so we're going to get straight to it. Some AMAZING holiday videos are coming tomorrow to both our youtube channel and our online program (members you're getting 3! Yup!), and I can't wait for you to see the little holiday makeover we have in store for you! We've been doing a lot of soul searching lately, and some changes are coming to the website too, including some personal stories in our About page, stuff I've never shared before but I'm always more daring and more humbled at Christmas so I'm getting up the nerve to write it! We're also creating an easy access page to our recipes, and the best thing yet, you can now check out what's new, and our latest blog posts, right from our home page!Read More
Today we're teaching you how to make the most meaty and delicious mini vegan burgers or sliders. Our favorite thing about these is they come together with leftover beans and rice! I always recommend cooking up a batch of rice and a batch of beans at the beginning of the week so you always have your base for delicious vegan bowls, but here's a recipe where you can transform that into the most beautiful and comforting meal. Who doesn't love a good old burger and fries combo?!
We're topping the veggie burgers with some barbecue sauce and a yummy portobello and crispy onion topping, and we're also showing you how to make crispy oven potato wedges to go with your meal. All you need is a vegan milkshake and you'll be transported to your favorite diner.Read More
